Amazon Prime finally makes its way to India, 60-day trial available

Amazon today finally launched its Prime subscription service in India. The service offers unlimited free one-day and two-day delivery, discounted same day, morning and scheduled deliveries, 30 minutes early access to Lightning Deals, and exclusive Lightning Deals and Deals of the Day for Prime users.


Amazon has revamped its website and application to let users discover and choose Prime products. It’s worth noting that Amazon Prime users don’t get free delivery on all products – this benefit is available only on products with the Prime badge next to them. Amazon Prime’s delivery benefits will be available to users in 20 cities across the country. If your city is not yet eligible for one-day or two-day delivery, then you will receive free delivery with no minimum purchase. The e-tailer usually charges Rs 100 and Rs 80 for one-day and two-day deliveries respectively.

As part of the launch offer, Amazon is offering a 60-day free trial for the Prime service in the country. If you sign up for it now, Amazon Prime will cost Rs 499 for a year after the 60-day trial ends. The usual price for the service in the country will be Rs 999 per year. Amazon has also announced that it will soon be launching the Prime Video service for Prime members in the country. Prime Video offers exclusive access to Amazon Original Series and Movies, as well as to movies and TV shows from the e-tailer’s Indian and global content providers.
